The HFBF-230 Horizontal Polarized HF Butterfly Broad Band Dipole Antenna offer optimum performance, fully automatic, low VSWR operation over the HF band 2-30 MHz and suitable for receiving, transmitting or HF spectrum monitoring or surveillance with polarization diversity. The antenna required two mast (lattice or tubular) having minimum 65 feet height (not in our scope of supply). The HFBF-230 broadband butterfly antenna propagates NVIS, local, medium or long distance communications. This HF broadband butterfly antenna is ready to go right out of the box, no taps to change frequency, nothing to tune - ever!

HF Butterfly Antenna Designed for the military and built to last. No Antenna Tuning Unit (ATU) is required for its operation. HF butterfly antenna matching circuit BALUN is part of antenna. No active circuit is involved to design hf butterfly antenna. The HF butterfly antenna is fully passive thus ensuring many years of maintenance free life. The HF Broad Band Butterfly Antenna provides optimum performance over complete HF band, eliminating the requirement of multiple antennas, minimizing the cost and setup requirements.

The HFBF-230 horizontal polarized broadband butterfly antenna is designed for broad band operation for fixed stations application. The radiating element of butterfly antenna is made of either high quality copper or type 303 marine grade stainless steel wire which are ultra corrosion resistant alloy to ensure the survivability in worst environment conditions.

The HF butterfly antenna matching circuit BALUN is designed in such way that it can be removed with simple hand tools in case of failure without dismantling the complete butterfly antenna. The HF butterfly antenna uses N type female connector to withstand the 500 Watts average power handling capacity. To install the HF butterfly antenna approx. xxx feet mast distance is recommended to avoid any distortion caused by metallic mast. If each section of mast is insulted from each other that could be good. Insulated guy wires is recommended for the mast. In case of metallic guy wire, the guy ropes must be insulated at regular interval.

The HFBF-230 HF butterfly antenna is completely passive type which allow to receive and transmit horizontal polarized electrical field signals. The HFBF-230 HF broadband butterfly antenna is completely electrically isolated from the mast. The HFBF-230 horizontal polarized butterfly antenna operates at D.C. ground with low resistance discharge path for protection against lightning and immunity to noise. The butterfly antenna can be installed within 1 hour by 2 technician. The standard butterfly antenna is designed to handle 500 watts average (3KW average optional) power handling capacity.

The triangular geometry of butterfly antenna has many structural and electrical advantages over a common folded dipole antenna:

- There are no spreaders, making it easier to construct than a folded dipole antenna.

- Radiation efficiency gain approximately +2dB better than folded dipole antenna.

- Lower frequency rolloff knee than folded dipole antenna of same length.

- Less visibly obtrusive and more stealthy than a folded dipole antenna

- Good NVIS high angle regional performance below 14MHz.

- Good DX performance at 14MHz and above.

- Smooth and well-matched SWR curve.

- Omni-directional radiation pattern.
